1. Origin:
Dong A1 is a purebred rice variety hybridized by ThaiBinh Seed Joint Stock Corporation, it was recognized as National Seed in 2017.
2. Characteristics:
Dong A1 is a cold-tolerant variety with wide adaptability, strong tillering, high intensive farming.
Growing time: in the North of Viet Nam, in Spring crop from 125 days to 135 days, in Summer crop 105 days to 110 days; in South Central and Central Highlands: in Winter-Spring crop from 115 days to 125 days, in Summer-Autumn crop from 105 days to 110 days; in the South of Viet Nam from 105 days to 110 days.
Height: from 100 cm to 105 cm with beautiful shape, neat, strong stem, vertical leaves, a flower's length from 27 cm to 29 cm, slim seeds, 1000 seeds's net weight is about 18.5 grams to 19.5 grams.
Good resistance to leaf blight bacteria and brown planthopper, slightly infected by rice blast bacteria, resistance to salinity 3 - 4 ‰.
Average yield reaches from 60 quintals to 65 quintals/ha, can reach from 70 quintals to 75 quintals/ha with good intensive farming conditions.
The ratio of milled rice is high (62 - 65%); good rice's quality, pure and white rice grains; cooked rice is soft, strong taste, aromatic.
