Mr. Tran Manh Bao, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of ThaiBinh Seed Corporation, stated that the establishment of ThaiBinh Seed was associated with an important historical event in the Thai Binh province, that is, in 1966, Thai Binh established a miracle of rice yield of 5 tons/ha.
President Ho Chi Minh paid a visit to Thai Binh from December 31 to January 1, 1967. The president met with Thai Binh provincial authorities and residents and emphasized the importance of seed selection in increasing rice yield for farmers. In 1967, in response to the President Ho Chi Minh's instructions, Thai Binh province established a rice seed supply system under the Agriculture Committee – now known as the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. The Administrative Committee of Thai Binh province issued a statement on January 10, 1972, to establish "Thai Binh Rice Seed Company," the forerunner of today's ThaiBinh Seed Corporation, which is one of Vietnam's oldest seed companies.

According to the labor hero Tran Manh Bao, the "Thai Binh Rice Seed Company", shortly after its formation, was assigned the duty of "Implementing the complete provincial-wide program of level II rice breeding" by the province. During the conflict era, an enterprise was established and implemented under a centrally planned economy. The company's operations and the lives of its employees were particularly challenging in the light of the economy. The management and staff of the "Thai Binh Rice Seed Company" were constantly on the lookout for a solution. Faced with this difficult scenario, DC (a company's level I rice breeding farm) boldly established a "piece work to employees" system in 1987. After a year of experimentation, the remarkable results were that the rice yield rose by 20% every year, and this strategy was adopted by the entire company.
Thanks to the persistent implementation of that mission, ThaiBinh seed has continued to expand in a sustainable manner, and achieving the current position. With 12 branches nationwide, ThaiBinh seed is now expanding its activities in three fields: plant varieties, victuals, and service trade.

The deputy minister also hopes that ThaiBinh seed will continue to analyze and select rice varieties, as well as some main crops with high yield and quality, to support agricultural production in the rapidly evolving field, where climate change, natural disasters, and epidemics remain a major challenge; and strengthen the development of seed production linkage chains to actively contribute to domestic and export-oriented plant seed production.
