1. Origin:
OM8017 is a purebred rice variety monopolized by ThaiBinh Seed Joint Stock Corporation, it was recognized as a National Seed in 2015.
2. Characteristics:
Growing time: in South Central and Central Highlands: in Winter - Spring crop from 105 days to 110 days, in Summer - Autumn crop from 90 days to 95 days; in the South of Viet Nam from 90 days to 100 days.
Height: from 100 cm to 110 cm, its resistance to shedding is quite good, strong tillering, beautiful phenotype, vertical leaves, concentrated flowering; big flowers, flowers's length from 25 cm to 26 cm, long and slim seeds, 1000 seeds's net weight is about 26 grams to 27 grams.
Resistance to acidity and salinity, to brown planthopper and to yellow dwarf disease is quite good, resistance to rice blast bacteria is moderate.
Average yield reaches from 65 quintals to 70 quintals/ha, can reach from 75 quintals to 80 quintals/ha with good intensive farming conditions.
