1. Origin:
TBR279 is a purebred rice variety selected by ThaiBinh Seed Joint Stock Corporation, it was recognized as National seed in 2019.
2. Characteristics:
TBR 279 is a cold-tolerant variety with wide adaptability; strong tillering, high intensive farming.
Growing time: in the North of Viet Nam: in Spring crop from 120 days to 130 days, in Summer crop from 95 days to 105 days; in South Central and Central Highlands: in Winter-Spring crop from 105 days to 115 days, in Summer-Autumn crop from 95 days to105 days; in the South of Viet Nam from 95 days to 100 days.
Height: from 95 cm to105 cm with beautiful shape, neat, strong stem, vertical leaves, a flower's length from 24 cm to 26 cm, slim seeds, 1000 seeds's net weight is about 18 grams to 19 grams.
Good resistance to leaf blight bacteria and brown planthopper, slightly infected by rice blast bacteria.
Average yield reaches from 60quintals to 65 quintals/ha, can reach from 70 quintals to 72 quintals/ha with good intensive farming conditions.
The ratio of milled rice is high (64 - 66%); good rice's quality, pure and white rice grains; cooked rice is soft, strong taste, aromatic.
