1. Origin:
Bac Thom 7 is a Chinese purebred rice variety, selected and purified by ThaiBinh Seed Joint Stock Corporation.
2. Characteristics:
Growing time: in the North of Viet Nam: in Spring crop from 125 days to 135 days, in Summer crop from 105 days to 110 days, in South Central and Central Highlands: in Winter - Spring crop from 105 days to 110 days, in Summer - Autumn crop from 95 days to 100 days.
Height: from 100 to 105 cm, easy to fall, good tillering; slim seeds, brown husk, 1000 seeds’s net weight is about 18.5 grams to 19.5 grams.
Poor resistance to cold, infected by hopper, moderately infected by rice blast bacteria and sheath blight disease, seriously infected by leaf blight bacteria.
Average yield reaches from 50 quintals to 55 quintals/ha, can reach from 60 quintals to 65 quintals/ha with good intensive farming conditions.
Amylose content is up to 13.0%, good rice’s quality, pure rice grains, cooked rice is soft, aromatic.
